This week Year 8 students studying the Food Technology unit, planted a herb or vegetable which will later be used in a recipe mid-term 2. Paddock to plate focuses on the journey that food takes from the fields to your table, this helps students develop a greater understanding of where ingredients come from and how they are produced. Students are responsible for maintaining their chosen herb or vegetable, including monitoring growth every week and watering every few days. Let us hope these delicate herbs and vegetables survive this hot weather!
The Year 7 students studying the Engineering Systems unit, have been busy making paper boomerangs and a variety of paper planes, to analyse designs, and their impact on how forces act on the plane. At the end of the unit students will design and produce a balsa wood glider.
Our Year 12 Hospitality students completed their Non – Alcoholic practical Assessment this week and what a better way to showcase their skills during the Open Night evening. Our parents and year 6 students were blown away by the variety beverages that were on offer to quench their thirst. Year 12 prepared, constructed and garnished beverages such as milkshakes, passionfruit/strawberry mojitos, mango daiquiris and sunrise. We calculated a total of 566 NAB beverages were made and served. WOW!
Our Year 11 students were very excited to wear their new Food and Beverage uniforms this week. They are currently undertaking the Prepare Sandwiches unit and have been busy the past few weeks preparing and making a variety of different sandwiches such as Open Sandwich – Bruschetta, Pressed sandwich – variety of toasties and today’s practical was a Club sandwich.
Looking very professional in their uniforms this morning!
