On Monday 6 May, four bright minds from Strathfield Girls High School embarked on a remarkable journey as they attended a Youth Advisory Board meeting at NSW Parliament House. Amitis, Khushi, Noor, and Sienna represented our school, delving into the heart of democratic discourse alongside fellow students from across the Strathfield network. Under the guidance of their local member for Strathfield, Jason Yat-Sen Li, these Year 12 students immersed themselves in the intricacies of parliamentary proceedings. From engaging workshops to hands-on activities, they gained invaluable insights into the inner workings of governance and policymaking.
A highlight of the day was the opportunity for our budding leaders to craft and deliver their own Notices of Motion. Through this exercise, they not only honed their understanding of parliamentary procedure but also learned how to articulate and advocate for issues close to their hearts. Throughout the event, Amitis, Khushi, Noor, and Sienna showcased not only their intellect but also their passion for enabling positive change in their community. Their participation underscored the importance of youth voices in shaping the future of our nation.
