This week Year 9 Design and Technology students wrapped up their Semester 2 project where they designed the recipe for a lacto-fermented hot sauce, as well as the packaging and promotional graphics. Throughout the unit they have developed a wide range of skills including balancing flavours, selecting locally grown chillis, controlling heat levels, managing the fermentation process, calculating nutritional values of their sauce and its shelf-life, and developing eye-catching labels informed by the elements and principles of design. Students have done amazing work and developed professional quality, mouth-watering hot sauces with beautiful labels that comply with Australian food labelling standards. Excellent work from amazingly talented students!
