By Ayesha Afzal & Miruna Stancu 8JPP 2024

Over the last few weeks, Year 8 students have been busy learning about daily routines in both Japanese and Korean cultures as part of our studies. To showcase what we learned, we turned these lessons into creative projects—short films inspired by Japanese daily routines and K-drama-inspired videos for Korean daily routines. For both projects, we worked in teams to plan, film, and edit our videos, which were then entered into class competitions. For the Japanese film contest, we had just one week to complete our videos. After a vote, we decided to split the win between Eileen’s group and our group. Everyone received a participation prize of a Zooper Dooper, and the winners shared a bag of mango gummies. For the Korean project, after another class vote, our group was chosen as the winner.

It was an incredible experience working together as teams, learning about new languages and cultures, and bringing our creativity to life. These projects were so much fun and a memorable way to celebrate everything we learned this year. For Year 8 Japanese and Korean students, it was a perfect way to end the year on a high note!
