On 23 September, seven students from Strathfield Girls competed in the 2023 National Chinese Eisteddfod, an annual event organised by the Chinese Language Education Council of NSW.
The competition requires students to recite a poem chosen in the selection of Chinese poetry. They must learn and recite the poems before an audience and a panel of judges. They are scored on their ability to intonate, pronounce, deport, and express emotions.
Congratulations to all the students who have bravely participated in the competition this year. Their efforts have been highlighted in their consistent practice and personal best.
The following students have placed a spot in their age groups:
Age 13-15 Individual Age Group - Mandarin Native
Yue (Joycelyn) Xia, Year 10 - 1st Place
Penny Zhu, Year 9 - 2nd Place
Age 16-18 Individual Age Group - Mandarin Native
Changyue (Judy) Liu, Year 10 - 2nd Place

Thank you to the hard work of teachers and most importantly students, who have gained confidence in their public presentation and a valuable appreciation for Chinese culture and literature.
Congratulations to all the students involved!
