About our school

Strathfield Girls High School is situated in a well established and highly sought after residential area. The school was established as a single sex comprehensive high school in 1953 and designated a languages high school in 1990. Eighty five percent of its students are from non-English speaking backgrounds. It is close to major transport links, excellent facilities at Homebush Bay and tertiary institutions. The school is highly regarded because of academic and sporting excellence, high achievement in the creative and performing arts, school wellbeing and social harmony. The languages high school designation of the school symbolically promotes a secure multicultural environment for a diverse student population where tolerance and understanding of the cultural groups the school serves are priorities. Strathfield Girls High School provides a caring and friendly environment where students are challenged to do their best in all fields of endeavour. Students are encouraged to make a significant contribution to society and gain confidence and self esteem to take initiative and achieve self reliance and personal fulfilment.
